When to stop???
Every painting has it's own journey, there are the ones that seem to paint themselves, and there are the others......!!!
I started on Fish nearly 2 years ago, everything seemed to go well, and then I started to fiddle!!! The original was on my website and by the time I had an inquiry about it from America....it was too late!!! I had decided it was in need of more work, everything went horribly wrong, and, the more I worked on it the worst it got.
Eventually I had to but it to one side for a long time. In fact I am amazed it escaped the bin!!! But I do hate to give up on a painting, unless I really have to.
Fast forward to a month ago, whilst sorting out my studio I can across, the said sad 'Fish'
Ok, It had to be worth one more go!!!
I'm not saying it finished,......but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I posted it on my Alex Howell Art Facebook page and was surprised by the positive response. I was asked how one knew when to stop? Wow, that is the million dollar question. Often, you only know the stop point, when you have passed it!!!! But I personally think it is better to go too far, than to stop short of where you should be.
Well ( as a famous rabbit often said) that's all folks!!!!
oops here is Fish/Pond today
